With the start of July, the summer regattas row into full swing as the most recognized regatta in the world starts tomorrow, the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-the-Thames, UK. Henley-on-Thames is known as a tourist haven nestled in green pastures and quaint architecture between the River Thames and the wooded Chiltern Hills. Novices and Olympians alike compete in more than 200 races in five days on the Thames, July 1 through July 5. Part of the social season, the international competitors draw thousands of spectators as they have for over 175 years. Would be experts can catch up on the history of all those exhilarating years by visiting the rowing museum waiting in town in preparation for the important three S’s within the regatta enclosures: spectating, socializing and shopping.
