October is here! Where did September go?
The OCU Head of the Oklahoma on October 3, 2015 will be a head/sprint race Downtown on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Hosted By Oklahoma City University, there will be 743 entries from 43 clubs.
The Head of the Mississippi will be held in Minneapolis, Minnedota hosted by the Minneapolis Rowing Club on the Mississippi River.
The 2015 Okie O’Connor Hot Head Regatta will be held in Tempe, Arizona hosted for the last seven years by the Tempe Rowers Association. This fall head race started on Tempe Town Lake in 2002 because of Okie’s love of watersports. There will be dragon boating, outrigger canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding in addition to rowing testimony to an “anything you can row or paddle” venue to get everyone out on the water.
The Greater Dayton Rowing Association partners with Five Rivers MetroParks to host a 2k head race on the Great Miami River starting from Island Metro Oak in Dayton, Ohio. a portion of the regatta entry fees will be donated to the Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Leader of the Lake, a 5k starting from the Clermont Boathouse on Lake Minneola in Clermont, Florida will be hosted by the Lake County Rowing Association. 166 entries will compete from 29 clubs from 7am to 3pm. The Grand River Marathon Regatta, a 42.1k race, that’s 26.2 miles will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, otherwise known as Beer City USA. The venue is hosted by the Grand Rapids Rowing Association on Grand River. There has been a LOCATION CHANGE to a double turn course with both the start and finish at the Grand River Boathouse, 291 North Park in Grand Rapids. There are a limited number of shells available for rent. Start time at 10am with beer waiting at the finish line. For more info and updates see: http://grrowing.org
The 27th Head of the Genesee, a combined head/sprint race from Genesee Valley Park in Rochester, New York will be hosted by the Rochester Community Club both Saturday and Sunday with 360 inclusive entries from 53 clubs.
Also over a damp weekend will be the USRowing Head Race National Championships in Lowell, Massachusetts on the Merrimack River. For details and results check out: http://www.usrowing.org/events_new/nationalheadrace
Another weekend regatta, the Head of the Ohio will be a head race downstream from Washington’s Landing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hosted by the Three Rivers Rowing Association. 404 entries compete from 40 club to finish just upstream of Fort Duquesne Bridge on I279, across from PNC Park
In Canada, the 5th annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational 4k head/sprint race will be held in Burnaby, British Columbia, hosted by the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club on Burnaby Lake. There will also be an additional time trial 250m sprint for the top six competitors in each boat class.
