Smells Like Crew Spirit 

With St. Patrick’s Day and Daylight Savings behind us and the advent of Spring just ahead, the rush of Spring Break and the anxious, nourishing wind smells like crew spirit in a good way that can only be interrupted by thoughts of regatta cowbells and finish lines. This is going to be a great season. You can feel nirvana, liberation in the air. 

  The Southern California League Cal Cup will be held at Marine Stadium, the site of the 1932 Olympics in Long Beach. 244 Junior rowers from 7 clubs will be hosted by Long Beach Junior Crew.

  Another Cali regatta for Junior rowers, the Pacific Invitational will be held in San Francisco hosted by the Pacific Rowing Club. There will be 205 rowers from 13 clubs competing on Lake Merced. 

In New Hampshire, the Queen City Ice Breaker Ergatta will be held at Trinity High School, 581 Bridge Street, Manchester for Master, Open, Collegiate, High School, Junior and Novice categories hosted by the Central Crew Club. This is a Concept2 event. There will be 56 entries from 10 clubs. 

  The Hudson River Rowing Association’s 16th Annual Indoor Sprints will be held in the McCann Athletic Center on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. This Concept2 event for Master, Open, High School and Junior categories will be hosted by HRRA. There will be 193 entries from 12 clubs. 

Lake Lenape Sprints, an invitational regatta will be held where else but on Lake Lenape! Southern New Jersey Scholastic Rowing Association will host 93 Junior and High School entries from 12 clubs in Mays Landing, New Jersey.

  The 4th annual Arrow Indoor Regatta, previously known as the Glass City Indoor Regatta will be hosted by St.Ursula Academy Crew. 85 entries in Junior, High School, Collegiate, Open and Master categories from 3 clubs will race 1500m in the SUA Field House, 4025 Indian Road, Toledo, Ohio.  

  Today in California, there will be a Dual Meet for Collegiate Men and Women with Sonoma State hosted by California Lightweight Crew held at the Jack London Aquatic Center, Oakland Estuary. California Lightweight Crew, also known as Cal Lightweights or Cal Lights is a club rowing team at the University of California, Berkeley and a member of the Western Collegiate Rowing Association.  

The Rollins Invitational will be held on Lake Maitland in Winter Park, Florida for Collegiate Men & Women hosted by Rollins College. 

  Over the weekend in Georgia, the 30th Annual John Hunter Regatta will be held in Gainesville at the Lake Lanier 1996 Olympic venue.  There will be 327 entries from 37 clubs. Collegiate, High School and Junior entries will race 2000m on the buoyed six lane course complete with starting platforms and an enclosed finish tower hosted by St. Andrew Rowing Club and Georgia Tech.

 
In British Rowing, the Ponteland Junior Head will be held in the Northern region. 

The Head of the River (HoRR) will be held in London from Mortlake to Putney on the Tideway. More than 400 crews of eights will row the 4¼ mile Thames Championship Course which is actually the Boat Race course in reverse. 

 And the Alton Spring Head hosted by the Alton Rowing Club, established in 1912, continues on with from last week with the second regatta in the Alton Head Race Series. Tomorrow will be the last and final regatta in the series.
