Today is World Water Day, an international day to observe and focus our attention to the need for sustainable freshwater sources. Today there are an estimated 2 billion people without safe drinking water. World Water Day was first proposed in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development and was designated by the United Nations General Assembly the following year. Ironically, today is also a day for a focused few, the Olympic hopefuls rowing for a prized seat on the road to Rio in the 2016 Olympics.
The British Rowing Team Olympic Trials will be held today through March 24 in Caversham.
The Latin America Continental Qualification Regatta will be held today through March 24 in Valparaiso, Chile hosted by the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA).
Also in Chile, the Latin American Competition will be held today through March 24 in Curauma hosted by Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA).
