Tail of the Lake, Tail of the Fox and More

It’s the first Sunday in October and depending where you live leaves are starting to turn in color with a feeling of anticipation for the oncoming change and the rigors of the upcoming Charles. In the meantime, check out the drone video along the Petaluma River in sunny California for the action and obstacles provided by the Wine Country Rowing Classic. There’s plenty of practice and participation in today’s regattas with Tails of the Lake, Tails of the Fox and tales of one’s own making. 


Tail of the Lake will be held today on Lake Union in Seattle, Washington hosted by Holy Names Academy and Lake Union Crew.There will be 429 entries from 37 clubs.


Tail of the Fox -Wisconsin will be held on October  2, 2016 on St. Norbert College Campus in De Pere, hosted by La Baie Verte Rowing Club. There will be 79 entries from 10 clubs on Fox River near Green Bay.

  The 37th Annual Textile River Regatta will be held today on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Massachusetts hosted Textile River Committee. There will be 570 entries from 77 clubs. 


The 16th Annual Mohawk Fall Classic Regatta formerly know as the Spartan Sweepstakes Regatta will be held on October 2, 2016 on the Mohawk River in Scotia, New York. Burnt Hills Rowing Association will host 179 entries from 16 clubs to the 3500m race with a 500m sprint racing after the head race.


Green Mountain Head Regatta will be held today on the Connecticut River in Putney, Vermont. Putney Rowing Club will host a 3 mile stake race with 1.5 miles upstream to orange buoys with a return back to the start for 290 entries from 62 clubs. Winners from every category receive maple syrup for first place, apples for second and cider for third. Yummy!


Also on the Connecticut River in Hartford, Connecticut, the 18th Annual Head of the Riverfront will be held at Riverside Park. There will be over 600 entries from 64 clubs hosted by Riverfront Recapture.


 Head of The Christina will be held October  2, 2016 head in Wilmington, Delaware hosted by WYRA. There will be 250 entries from 55 clubs. 


In sunny California, Wine Country Rowing Classic XI will be held today on the Petaluma River in Petaluma, hosted by North Bay Rowing Club and Sonoma State University. There will be 202 entries from 33 clubs. Entry fees will be donated to U.S. Veterans of Northern California Freedom Rows program.

  The 30th Annual Head of the Ohio wraps up today in Washington’s Landing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hosted by Three Rivers Rowing Association. 

 OCU Head of the Oklahoma continues on from yesterday in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with a 2.5 mile head race today. 
  In British Rowing, Maidstone Autumn Small Boats Head will be held Sunday 2nd October 2016 in the Thames region. Maidstone Invicta Rowing Club will host the 2500m upstream race.
St Neots Small Boats Head will be held Sunday 2nd October 2016 hosted by St Neots Rowing.

 Head of the Don will be held Sunday 2nd October 2016 in the Yorkshire region. Doncaster Rowing Club will host.
