Hurricane Matthew and More

**CANCELLATION** Leader of the Lake has been cancelled In Clermont, Florida by Lake County Rowing Association. Lake County is on Level 1 – Full Activation Emergency Operations Status with over 17,000 power outages due to Hurricane Matthew. The Category 2 storm at time of posting is tracking the coast of Georgia heading toward North Carolina. 173 entries from 24 clubs were expected on Lake Minneola. For live updates on Hurricane Matthew check HERE. Hoover – Columbus Fall Classic will be held today at Hoover Reservoir in Westerville, Ohio. Westerville Rowing Association will host 190 entries from 13 clubs.

Tail of the Passaic will be held in Passaic will be held on the Passaic River in Kearny, New Jersey. Kearny High School will host 171 entries from 22 clubs. For live results check HERE.

The course for the 24th Annual Chattanooga Head Race in Tennessee has been shortened due to the weather forecast of 12 MPH winds for 9:00am today increasing to 18 MPH by 2:00pm. Lookout Rowing Club expects 401 entries from 32 clubs. Both the Regatta Committee and the Chief Referee decided to shorten the course from 2500m to 2000m by starting further downstream at the Chattanoogna Rowing Center.

Head of the Housatonic will be held today in Shelton, Connecticut hosted by New Haven Rowing Club. There will be 804 entries from 98 clubs at Indian Well State Park on the West Bank of Lake Housatonic formed by a dam on the Housatonic River.

Head of the Brazos will be held today on the  Brazos River in Waco, Texas. Baylor Crew will host 399 entries from 25 clubs to the 5000m course starting near Herring Bridge by Cameron Park to finish at Baylor Boathouse.

11th Head of the James will be held today on the James River in Richmond, Virginia. James River Rowers will host 138 entries from 13 clubs.

 Okie O’Connor Hot Head Regatta will be held today at Tempe Town Lake Marina in Tempe, Arizona. There will be 138 entries from 16 clubs hosted by Tempe Rowers Association.

Horsetooth Ache will be held at Horestooth Reservoir in Fort Colins, Colorado for Master, Open, Collegiate, High School, Adaptive, Junior, Novice, International and Other entries Horsetooth Ache is a high altitude 13 mile stake race with a mass start hosted by Fort Collins Rowing Association.

Head of Genesee will be held today and tomorrow in Rochester, New York. Rochester Community Rowing will host 315 entries from 53 clubs at Genesee Valley Park. Today, October 8 will be  collegiate day. The Corporate Challenge will be held during the mid-day break. Tomorrow, Sunday, October 9 is reserved for Masters, Open and High School competition.

In Canada, Contre-Courant de Boucherville will be held on the St. Lawrence River in  Boucherville, Quebec. Club D’Aviron de Boucherville will host 64 entries from 12 clubs.

The 6th Annual Burnaby Lake Small Boat Invitational will be held today in Burnaby, British Columbia hosted by Burnaby Lake Rowing Club. 136 entries from 17 clubs are expected to compete in the 4K time trial with a 250m sprint for the top 6 finishers in each category/boat class.

 In British Rowing, Tees Long Distance Sculls will be held Saturday 8th October 2016 in the Northern region. Weather
conditions at time of posting offer a bit of a headwind with cloudy skies.

Tees Small Boats Head will also be held Saturday 8th October 2016 in the Northern region hosted by Tees Rowing Club. Tees rowers Laurance Whiteley and Lauren Rowles recently took Gold last month in Rio at the Paralympic Games in the TAMix2x.

Burway Small Boats Head will be held Saturday 8th October 2016 on the River Thames between Lakeham and Chertsey hosted by Burway Rowing Club.

Stourport Masters & Junior Head will be held Saturday 8th October 2016 in the West Midlands region hosted by Stourport Boat Club.

In World Rowing, the 2016 Top Speed Rowing Regatta will be held October 8 and 9 for elite rowers in a 350m sprint hosted by Reial Club Nautic de Tarragona at Estacio Maritima in Tarragona, Spain.
