Just 10 miles outside of downtown Richmond, Virginia, the 10th Head of the James will be held on the James River hosted by James River Rowers. There will be 71 entries from 8 clubs showing up today to the shady treed 101 acre Robious Landing Park to take advantage of the fast, predictable current of the James River.
The Head of the Housatonic will be held at Indian Well State Park in Shelton, Connecticut hosted by the New Haven Rowing Club with 746 entries from 88 clubs. Since 1994, rowers have traveled from as far as Australia for the 2.7 mile course along the Housatonic River in preparation for the Charles. For details see: http://www.headofthehousatonic.org
Baylor Crew hosts junior, open and masters races at the Head of the Brazos in Waco, Texas. The 5,000m head race on the Brazos River starts by Cameron Park just before the Herring Bridge, the first of nine bridges. The 32nd annual Speakmon Memorial Regatta hosted by the Greater Columbus Rowing Association invites community, High School, Collegiate, Masters, Adaptive and Mixed classes to the Henley style start on the Scioto River at Griggs Reservoir. The 5000m buoyed course starts near Hayden Bridge and finishes at Griggs Boathouse. Also in Florida, the First Coast Head Race head will be hosted by the Stanton Rowing Foundation on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. The 5k race starts at the Mathews Bridge rowing past private homes and marshes with possible sighting of dolphin, egrets, bald eagles, herons, ospreys and other wildlife in the protected waters. Boats will also navigate through the University and Cesery Bridges, a few turns and a no passing zone making the First Coast Head Race a fitting challenge and great practice for the Charles. The Quinsigamond Snake Regatta will be held on Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts hosted by the Quinsigamond Rowing Association with 156 entries from 33 clubs. For information see: http://www.snake.org

In Tennessee, the Chattanooga Head Race will be hosted by the Lookout Rowing Club on the Tennessee River.
The Head of the Grand, a head race for Junior, Open & Masters will be held over the next two days in Lansing hosted by Michigan State University Women’s Crew on the Grand River.
In Canada, the RCA National Rowing Championships continue and the one day Contre-Courant de Boucherville will be held in Boucherville, Quebec hosted by Club d’aviron de Boucherville.
