World Rowing Championships 2017 & More

World Rowing Championships 2017 start with an opening ceremony today in Sarasota, Florida and runs hrough October 1, 2017 hosted by FISA.

Frogtown Regatta will be held September 23, 2017 at International Park in Toledo, Ohio. Toledo Rowing Club hosts 380 entries from 33 clubs.

Head of the Merrimack will be held September 23, 2017 at the Merrimack River in Methuen, Massachusetts. Essex Rowing Club hosts 67 entries from 17 clubs.

Paper City Regatta will be held September 23, 2017 on the Connecticut River in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Holyoke Rows hosts 49 entries from 8 clubs. 

Wasatch Mountain Head will be held at Jordanelle Reservoir in Heber City, Utah. Park City Rowing Academy hosts 41 entries from 5 clubs. 

Head of the Seekonk will be held September 23, 2017 at River Road on the Seekonk River in Providence, Rhode Island. Narragansett Boat Club hosts 63 entries from 12 clubs.

Head of the Anacostia will be held September 23, 2017 st Anacostia Community Boathouse in Washington, DC. Capital Rowing Club hosts 107 Master, Open, High School, Adaptive, Junior and Novice entries from 23 clubs.

**CANCELLATION** Head of the Hudson planned for September 23, 2017 at the Hudson River in Albany, New York has been cancelled by Albany Rowing Center.

**CANCELLATION** Meredith Bay Reagatta  planned for September 23 in Meredith New Hampshire for Master, Collegiate, Adaptive, and Junior entries to be hosted by Winnipesaukee Rowing Club.

In Canada, Head of the Welland – Five Bridges Fall Classic will be held September 23, 2017 at Welland International Flatwater Centre ~ North Course in Welland, ON. South Niagara Rowing Club hosts 462 entries from 40 clubs.

Head of the River will be held September 23, 2017 at Nicomekl River in South Surrey, BC. Nicomekl Rowing Club hosts 83 entries from 16 clubs.

Head of the North Saskatchewan will be held September 23, 2017 at the North Saskatchewan River I. Edmonton, AB hosted by Edmonton Rowing Club.

In British Rowing, Yare Cup will be held Saturday 23rd September 2017 hosted by Yare Boat Club in Norwich.

Milton Keynes RC Regatta will be held Saturday 23rd September 2017 will be hosted by Milton Keyes Rowing Club on Caldecotte Lake.

Itchen Junior Regatta will be held Saturday 23rd September 2017 hosted by Itchen Imperial Rowing Club.

In World Rowing, 45e Tour du Léman à l’Aviron continues from yesterday in Geneva hosted by Société Nautique de Genève.

There are so many really interesting regattas this weekend. One can really feel the change in seasons right now despite the warmer weather. It’s time to row!

The Annapolis Rowing Club hosts the 23rd annual Wye Island Regatta on you guessed it Wye Island in Wye Mills, Maryland. This course runs 13.1 miles. Yes that’s what I said, 13.1 miles. For more information see the website: http://www.annapolisrowingclub.com/wyeislandregatta

The Springfield Rockminnon Regatta will be held on the Connecticut River in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Pioneer Riverfront Club will host Junior, HS/Scholastic, Collegiate events and will be divide Master Events by age. For more info see: http://www.pvriverfront.org 

 

In Providence, Rhode Island, the oldest rowing club in the United States, the Narragansett Boat Club will host the Head of the Seekonk Regatta on the Seekonk River. For more information see: http://www.nbcregattas@bermita.com

There are marathon rowers in Tennessee as the Lookout Rowing Club hosts the Tennessee River Gorge Row in Chattanooga. The 23 mile course runs downstream starting at the LRC Boathouse just outside the downtown area through the gorge which is the fourth largest river canyon east of the Mississippi River. The Delta Deas Rowing Club hosts the Head of the Reach on the Deas Slough in Delta, British Columbia. Information can be found in the NEWS section on the website: http://www.deltadeas.com

The fourth annual Muskoka Fall Classic will be held at Gull Lake Rotary Park in Gravenhurst, Ontario. Hosted by the Severn River Rowing Club, this is a 3 km head race on calm waters in idyllic surroundings. Winners even receive a Golden Honey Jar” trophies. Go Pooh! Minot’s Light Roundabout, a coastal race on the Sandy Beach tomorrow in Cohasset, Massachusetts will be hosted by the Cohasset Maritime Institute. This is an 4.8 open ocean race for any kind of sea worthy oar powered craft. All participants must wear life jackets and carry a noise signaling device like a whistle or horn as there are no escort launches and rowers will be in rough waters out of the sightline of the host powerboats for some of the race. Conditions will waver with strong winds and waves. For more information see: http://www.row.cmi.com

In Duluth, Minnesota, the Death Row Regatta will be held tomorrow on the western tip of Lake Superior hosted by the Duluth Rowing Club. In addition to the traditional rowing regatta, kayaks, canoes and outrigger canoes compete in their own categories. Find out more on the website: http://www.duluthrowing.org

The Meganticook Regatta in Maine will be held tomorrow on the Meganticook Lake in Camden. The event is either a 10 mile mini marathon or 3 mile loop race, out and back on the lake, competitor’s choice. The dry lauch site is on Barret’s Cove Beach. These head races for 1x’s and 2x’s are hosted by Meganticook Rowing.

The Gallagher Great Race, an international inter-varsity challenge will be held over the weekend on the Waikato River. The 3.85 course provides a race upriver with strong, unpredictable currents. Check out the website for more information and the livestream: http://www.thegreatrace.co.nz

And last but not least, the World Rowing Masters Regatta will be held throughout the weekend in Hazewinkel, Belgium.
